I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This not a well run place. it looks good and the marketing person is good and helpful. some of the staff really care and try but they can't do what they are capable of doing because the business side is so poorly ran . They had a buyout during my family members stay and I hoped the billing and management side would get better, but it didnt. They said they would do something or call you back and they didnt. They kept getting the bill incorrect, charges were not made per the contract and would not help me resolve it when I tried multiple times. They are difficult to Communicate with. It really wasn't worth the hassle and constant worry if the couldn't manage the place good enough then what kind of care were they giving my loved one. I am usually not someone to complain but the place was not good at all and I would not recommended them !

I visited this facility

I visited Creekside at Shallowford. It was a little bit more of independent than my dad could have. We would have had to hire outside nurses and everything. I liked the part where the family could come and go, because he would have to be in an apartment on his own, and I really like one of the rooms that we looked at. I really liked it. The man, Michael, was really nice and he explained the facility to me. He has followed up and checked on my dad as well. I liked this one room that was on the second floor. It had a view of the outside and had a little porch he could go out on if he wanted. It looked like they had a lot of good activities that the people could participate in. It was pretty ideal. I liked the location, too. It was like back, past the main road, and it was kind of back in a near wooded area. It had a pretty view. The staff that I met was friendly. Everything seemed good. It was fairly new and updated. They also provided rides to different places for the people that rented there.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents are in Creekside at Shallowford. It is beautiful and wonderful. This place is fabulous. It is friendly, warm, and welcoming. My mother absolutely loves it. She has gone from being reclusive to getting out and making friends. She is enjoying the meals too. My stepdad would not get out and do anything, but now he is out and participating in football parties and enjoying the music. The difference is night and day. It is wonderful. The staff members are great. They are warm, welcoming, and very attentive. They clean the room, they take all the towels, wash the clothes and sheets, they sweep and mop the floor, and they clean the bathroom and the kitchen. The dining area is beautiful. Between every meal they keep it formally set. They do their major meal at lunch and then they have a lighter meal at supper, which is usually advantageous for elderly people. They have a master chef on staff, so the meals are very good. I would give it the highest score possible.

My aunt moved into Creekside at Shallowford, and I really love the place. They have activities every hour, they have puzzles all over the place, exercise classes that she likes, and I think it's so nice that she has things to do. The people that were working there seem to be happy. We like the food and I think it's pretty good. I liked that they had a place for people to go walking, it was shaded and there were lots of flowers and places for people to sit around and talk.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into Creekside at Shallowford a month ago. It's a good place, everything is well-organized, and we're not really hurting for anything. The staff is very good, and they're like one of us. I have a one-bedroom apartment, washers and dryers are available, they have something for us to do every day, and the food is really good. Once a week we have a Christian service, and there's an exercise room.

I visited this facility

The person who took us on the tour at Creekside at Shallowford was great. He sat down and talked to us, gave us information, took us around and showed us the facilities that were there and what were available for us. I was very pleased. The rooms were more like a one room and one bathroom. They had rehabilitation that they could go to if needed, and doctors that would come to see them. They have transportation there for them if they want to go to stores. The place was very well kept up and well maintained.

I really liked Creekside at Shallowford. The family was able to eat with my father. It's a really nice place. The overall appearance and the layout were excellent They always had something for them to do. They took them to a movie, to The Tivoli, plays, and shopping. They didn't have an assisted part there. The dining room was big and nice and the food was good and nutritious. The staff was great. The pricing was good, but they had no services there. He had his apartment cleaned once a week and I had outside people come in.

What I like about Creekside at Shallowford is the staff, the manager, and the accommodations. The staff’s work attitude is excellent, and the atmosphere of the place is excellent. Some of their amentities include an activity room, a salon, an exercise room, and they go on trips once a week. They also take the residents to shows, there’s live music every week, and so on. The food is excellent, and they have very fine dining.

Our experience with Southern Oaks has been wonderful. The staff is doing a great job, they have plenty of activities, and wonderful food. They check on my mother frequently during the night, she has sun-downers, but they have made her stay a great experience. She has a private room with her own bathroom. They have a big living room for all the residents to gather in with a TV, they bring in music, they have a crafts room, bingo, and all that kinds of stuff. The layout of the place is all one level and it's really nice. I also even participated in some of their activities. I wish I could stay there. The pricing is affordable.

Care Cost Comparison

When considering medical service costs for seniors, the biggest factor is the level of care needed to ensure comfort. If seniors need part-time care, then adult day care ($1,733) is the least expensive route. Home health care is useful for seniors who need help with daily necessities, including bathing, dressing, meal prep and light housekeeping, but the costs on average are $700 to $800 over the expense of assisted living ($3,018), and unlike assisted living, home health care doesn’t include the costs of financially maintaining a home, such as rent, utilities, transportation, groceries and landscaping. PACE

Alexian Brothers PACE is a Christian-based health and service program that serves the elderly of Hamilton County, providing alternatives to nursing home care facilities. It’s a managed care system that offers high-quality health care to seniors at the PACE center, in medical facilities or in the individuals home. Geriatrician experts at PACE help coordinate the numerous medical needs and appointments that can easily overwhelm people,  including medication management, specialist care, hospitalizations, primary care and therapy.

While the PACE program doesn’t contribute toward the cost of assisted living, it can reduce the overall expense of services seniors would otherwise have to pay for. Seniors can receive all-inclusive care from a well-rounded team of physicians, nurses, case managers and dietitians, who tailor plans suited to each individuals special needs. Services vary and include non-emergency transportation, prescription medications, medical equipment and supplies, preventative health services, outpatient surgery and dentistry.

There is no fee required if you are eligible for TennCare long-term care services. If you are Medicare eligible only, a fee may be involved and determined by the enrollment coordinator. To be eligible for the PACE program, individuals must be age 55 and up, live in Hamilton County, Tennessee, be assessed by the PACE interdisciplinary team and be certified by TennCare as being eligible for nursing home level of care.
