We already paid for Atria Park of Ann Arbor and moved our mom's things in. She will be in the assisted living section. I am duly impressed with the appearance. It's very nice. The food is really good and the staff has been there for years. They keep track of how many years each staff member has been there and they put that on their name plate. So they don't have a high turnover. They have pretty good sized rooms with good layouts. They have residents putting together puzzles and playing games, then they have people in physical therapy doing therapy, and other residents watch TV or just spend time outside. The staff members they have seem really good.

My mother is currently doing rehab at Heartland Health Care Center-ann Arbor. I'm not really too impressed with the community. It doesn't seem like we're getting much feedback on how she is progressing. I'm not really impressed with the staff. Aside from feedback, they're also so slow in responding. The food is not so good. Mom hasn't done too many of the activities they have because of her condition. Her room there is small and shared. I think they have to improve on being more verbal with their patients because they're not really giving me any feedback. They should tell us about how she's doing in rehab, but they don't.

I had a tour at Brookhaven Manor which was very nice. It was a wonderful place. The woman who showed me around was marvelous and extremely helpful. I saw a lot of activities posted as far as classes and trips, so there was certainly a lot going on. The 1-bedroom was very nice. They showed me granite countertops and the high-end kitchen. It was a beautiful apartment. However, as far as the desirability of it for our purpose, I wouldn't put it that high a score. It's a great place, but it is not the right place for my brother.

Hillside Terrace is very nice. It is also smaller since they only have nine independent living apartments. They also have assisted living and a memory care unit. However, if you spend down, they don't accept Medicaid, so you have to move out which would become a problem. Since it's family-owned, you have a staff that is very committed to the community. Their family is very much involved at all levels of it and it has a family feel to it. I watched the people interacting with the residents who were coming through and it was a very warm place.

Brookhaven Manor is a very nice facility with lots of activities. It's in a nice location and it's much more reasonable cost-wise. It's not as elegant or glamorous as some facilities, but it's lovely. The staff is reliable, knowledgeable, and pleasant. The rooms are apartment style.

Everyone at Atria Park of Ann Arbor needed care of some kind and they had an Alzheimer's unit and nursing home care. It was a very nice and lovely place and the people were wonderful. The person I talked to was very nice and we had a long conversation.

Atria Park of Ann Arbor had a really nice walking trail and was very clean outside. The staff was very nice. The apartments were very nice and handicap accessible with roll-in showers. It was very expensive, though. If you can afford it, this is the place to go.
